This article caught my eye - Trying to break gender stereotype, Cambodian girls turn to soccer.
But the game marked a milestone in Cambodian sports and changing social mores it was played by women. In a country where gender inequality is the norm and sexual abuse against females is common, some young Cambodian women are trying to show that they are neither weak nor subversive by playing what is generally regarded in their society as a man’s game.
The article gives a mini-history of soccer.
This would help promise a real women team of Cambodia for Seagames 2011 that Cambodia's dued to host.

I find your site most interesting. I hear you on the whole women for soccer issue. I'm a Khmer-American and I've been playing soccer for a while now. I've been to Cambodia every summer for the past 4 years and I love it there. I've always wanted to help start up a girls soccer league, just for the fun of it. I hope one day they will get something started for females.. It would be so nice. Peace out and keep up the awareness.
