Somaly Hay, master Khmer Dance teacher, performed a solo at the Water Festival, the blessing dance. She also taught a culture class for our kids on Sunday. She was kind enough to demonstrate the basic Khmer dance gestures - as she said "Cambodian dancers talk with their hands." Andy Carvin captured some great footage of the Angkor Dance Troupe at the opening performance if you want to see the hand gestures in action.
Those video are really impressing, Beth.
Anyways, how far is it from your house to the ceremony?

This was both interesting and charming. It reminded me of a talk I heard yesterday by the author of a book called "Rebuilt".
He talked about his eye implant. The subject of some members of the American Sign Language community being opposed to such ear implants.
Their sign language has fewer words for something like "good". However, they emphasize how good something is by the expressiveness of their hands.
I can see how "expressive" hands can be by watching this video. Thank you.
