As some readers of this blog may remember, last year at about this time, I celebrated the big 5.0 birthday in true social media style with flickr 50th photo birthday card remix contest and I donated 50 bucks to the winner's favorite charity. (The winner was Cogdog blog because my kids were the judges and he used a cute doggy photo)
Anyway, I'm using my status on Facebook to tell everyone what I want for my birthday later this month. And I've already gotten two early gifts and wanted to say thank you!
I "met" Mark Grimes (Ned.com) virtually on Omidyar Network and he was part of a group that proposed community support for the Sharing Foundation. I'm glad we're friends on Facebook and that he reads my status. Mark is fast approaching 100 Kiva loans, so his support of the Sharing Foundation means a lot! He knows a good investment in the developing world.
That's Adam Nicholson. We've never met face-to-face, but I think he emailed me a question after reading an article I wrote for a print publication and we've been Facebook friends. He contributed to the Facebook Cause and also to Global Giving page if that icon below is you Adam.
I should say that I'm trying to encourages as many people to make their donation through Global Giving. There's a lot of reasons for that.
Thanks again to Adam and Mark. I really appreciate it! 51 isn't sounding so darn bad either.
