I received an email from Ami Dar who runs the Idealist.org inviting me to imagine a better
community and a better world, and connect with others who want to help build it. The idealist.org is serving as a connector to help people find one another to imagine and take action. This project is taking the power of the social web and building bridges between people, nonprofits, and ideas.
Take a quick browse through the comments from all over the world - pretty powerful.
First, find out what they mean by a "better world."
The intent here isn't to act along - but to find other kindred spirits who have the same passion about creating this better world and connect with them. The project talks about the challenge of missed connections and the opportunities to connect. The how section uses the metaphor of the rules for using the library or a store -- and talks about the idealist's values.
The next section offers some possible solutions on how one might use the resources of the idealist in many different local communities or villages to serve as a connection point. There is some advice for getting started and what to do right now! The latter includes hosting or attending a meeting the week of Feb.5th to 11th.
I'm off to do some searching to see what other people I can find who are concerned about making a better world in Cambodia.
Thank you Beth!
Ami

Hi Beth,
I actually came onto your blog by way of a mention on Idealist.org's homepage. You seemed to have done a lot of really great and interesting things. I am also personally interested and have recently just begun a foray into the intersections and relationships of media, technology, storytelling, and possibly community work. It seems like you've done a lot that I can use as guidance!

Hey Beth,
I found you by way of idealist. I'm new to the blog world and need to learn pronto how to utilize cyberspace to help create a buzz and to mobilize 2 million moms to take a stand for the health of their kids. I'm hoping to find some teens to do some video podcasting this summer and quite frankly don't really know a heck of alot about it! Would love to speak with you sometime soon about what you do and how you might be able to help me and some of the organizations I'm involved with: Better School Food www.betterschoolfood.org and Two Angry Moms
www.angrymoms.org
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Susan ;)
