Catastrophic computer problems

As you can see, I've experienced a major problem with my system. I am in the process of formatting my hardrive and reinstalling windows system. I have backups of mostly everything except the last ten days of email -and a few documents that weren't backed up online- got sloppy with backup in the back to school rush and being so busy.
So, if you sent me something and I haven't responded or if you hear from me begging to resend that email -- please do.
I did not need this to happen .... it is a pain and time consuming to reinstall software and operating system. I have a Dell and Gold Tech Support, but I'm finding that I know more than a few of the reps I've spoken too. .
But, I've learned a few lessons about the problems with my current back up system. On the positive side, it is a chance to zero out my over cluttered inbox and hard drive and start fresh.
We are not sure why this happened. It was a corrupted registry and windows system, along with a degraded RAID. (I have a RAID 1). It might have been some of the software that installed and I'm hoping it wasn't my screencasting creation software. However, I suspect it was the beta uploader tool of one of the video sharing services I played with. (I tested like 6 of them this week)
It means that I probably can't attend the podcamp party tonight .. darn. I hope to be at podcamp bright and early tommorrow morning, depending on how much progress I make on the system installation and software installation ....
Yikes! I feel for your pain. I hate reinstalling stuff, but it is an oppty to clean up the cruft and weeds.

It's worse when you work at home and have kids ...
Nonetheless, after 12 hours, the system is back up, I feel that I know more than a few of the Dell Tech Support Report reps, and my clutter is clear.
Now to keep it clutter free and not freak out over the work that needs to be done next week and worry about what caused it.
