IT Conversations produced by Doug Kaye, collects interviews and panel discussions with big thinkers from the technology field. There is a lot of material about blogging. I was surprised to find a podcast on (What else?) Non-Profits Blogging
Stowe Boyd, host of the True show, with Peter Quintas (CTO of Silkroad technology) and Peter Kaminski (CTO of Socialtext), exchanging observations about the ACS Innovation Summit, which was devoted to social networking and social media. A couple of their observations resonated with me:
- Fear was discussed in many of the presentations. While nonprofits are a little nervous about blogopshere, they know they need to do it.
- To get past the fear, nonprofit organizational blogging should be presented as similar to doing a presentation at a conference or other public speaking.
- Despite the fear, the examples of nonprofits doing blogging such as the ASC and March of Dimes are very innovative.
- Some nonprofits have started using blogs internally - talking internally - and then made it public.
- Successful examples of MOD/ACS - facilitate the use of blogs by people they serve and those people tell the organization's story. Great way to tell the organization's story.
UPDATE: Found this post from Chaotic Gestalt that gives some more information about one of the projects mentioned by the ACS. The project was spearheaded by Lisa Brown, VP Marketing of the ACS Eastern Division. This project, in part, involved gathering 20 colon cancer survivors to relate their stories online -- part of the "Fabulous at Fifty" project.
