How To Be An (effective) Social Butterfly

Danielle Brigida has posted an excellent slide show about her work flow as the social media person for the NWF.

I like her point about listening is actionable!  It isn't just about looking at the what people saying  -- it's about doing some pattern analysis and linking it back to a decision - like what should we write about on our blog.   In other words, your content reflects the community.

There are some helpful tips in this slideshow. I have found in my work with various non-profits that many lack any a real appreciation or understanding of social media and its potential for non-profit organizations.

I started using Twitter during the past year and have been reasonably happy with the results. By biggest delay with Twitter was finding decent documentation on how to use it effectively.

Facebook is my newest social media outlet. Facebook has been fairly easy for me to use so far.

Another very powerful option for non-profits though is digital publishing. This option is maturing and redefining the way publications and brochures are published and distributed. YUDU Media (www.yudu.com) is a great example of a service that allows for convergent media - that is, digital publications, audio files, video files, and digital bookmarks.

Thanks for sharing the presentation Beth. I like it just for the name sake alone! ;)
