Beth - thanks so much for the lovely words. Meeting you and listening to your session were one of the highlights of my weekend!

I was wondering if you could help me. I'd love to learn more about BlogHer and figured you could fill me in.

Hope you're having an amazing week!

Hi Beth,
You're right, I should probably blog post about my session. Anyway, here's the Readers' Digest version.
* People are sick of of having to register for sites, remember passwords, re-find all their friends, and keep their profile up-to-date.
* OpenID provides a means to do this. It's analogous to a general credit card like Visa vs. individual credit cards for each merchant.
* Because your ID would be the same everywhere, sites could do interesting new functions like automatically finding your friends, if your ID provider makes your ID relationships available through a standard protocol.
* Barrier to this is resistance to OpenID from existing sites because of misunderstanding, old thinking. Thus, users suffer.
* My intent is to raise awareness of potential solutions and encourage people to talk it up.
