Sculptures made by Azar are unique in the sense that they are entirely hand carved and most of them are made from driftwood found in Northern areas of Pakistan. He is the only sculptor in Pakistan who works in driftwood.
His early work was mainly realistic, but has gradually shifted to abstract. The artist aims to portray the suffering and misery of the downtroden of the underdeveloped world. Bringing out of the beauty of the wood in an appealing form is one of his objects.
